OneWorld and other community health centers in Nebraska need Congress to reauthorize the Health Center Fund before Sept. 30 so that we can continue to deliver affordable, quality care. On Sept. 30, 2017, 70% of Federal Health Center funding will expire, and if Congress fails to act to fix the cliff before the 30th, Nebraska Community Health Centers will lose $13,193,600 in funding. This cut would be devastating for Community Health Centers and would put 85,000 Nebraskans, including OneWorld patients, at risk of losing access to care.
You can support Nebraska’s community health centers by calling your elected officials and asking them to support reauthorizing the Health Center Fund before it expires.
Here’s how you can help:
Call your senators and your representative.
“My name is _________, and I’m calling to ask (elected official) to support Nebraska’s health centers by taking action to reauthorize the Health Center Fund before it expires on September 30th. If Congress fails to act to fix the cliff before September 30th, the Health Center Program will face a 70% reduction in funding, which would be devastating for Nebraska’s 85,000 health center patients.”
For calls to your representative: “I’m asking (Representative) to co-sponsor HR 3770, the CHIME Act being led by Rep. Stefanik – this bill calls for a 5-year extension to Health Center funding.”
For calls to your senators: “I’m asking (Senator) to take immediate action to fix the Health Center Funding Cliff.”
You can dial 1-(866) 456-3949 and enter your zip code to be connected to your elected officials, or you can call them directly:
