Cass Family Medicine will operate out of a mobile clinic in the parking lot behind the original clinic at 409 Main St. in Plattsmouth, beginning Wednesday, January 15. The clinic, along with other businesses was destroyed in a fire on January 3. A temporary clinic location will be open in about two weeks at 429 Main Street. A permanent home is being sought in Plattsmouth.
The mobile clinic is being loaned by the College of Nursing at UNMC. “As a thank you to the community, we are waiving our sliding scale fee for those who visit the mobile clinic,” said Dr. Kristine McVea, OneWorld Community Health Center Chief Medical Officer. “We are very grateful to the College of Nursing at UNMC for allowing us to use their mobile clinic.”
Kim Lambrecht, Cass Family Medicine Clinic Manager, said the support of the local community in Plattsmouth has been crucial to the recovery effort. “Jennifer and Robert Roby, owners of the River House Café, deserve a special thank you for opening their doors the night of the fire to the community. Their thoughtfulness gave us a warm place to gather our thoughts and put together a plan of action of what we were going to do next. Our staff is very eager to get back to the Plattsmouth community to see our patients again. The mobile unit will allow us to be able to reach out to the patients until our temporary site is available.”
