A note from Andrea Skolkin, Chief Executive Officer of OneWorld:
Looking back at our data from 2017, the need for affordable health care in Omaha and its surrounding areas is undeniable. Last year, OneWorld cared for 41,868 unique patients from 70 ZIP codes at our 11 clinical locations. Our patient volume increased by 4,096 in just one year, including 2,019 new uninsured patients. Of all the patients we served last year:
- 92% of those with a known income lived at or below 200% of poverty ($49,200 for a family of four in 2017)
- 75% were racial or ethnic minorities
- 57% were female
- 49% were uninsured
- 41% were children (17,269 under age 19)
Our goal at OneWorld is to rise to meet the demand for quality, affordable health care for all. We strive to welcome and provide care for every person who walks through our doors, regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, immigration status or ability to pay.
In order to achieve our goal of serving every patient who needs care, we need your support. On May 23, OneWorld will participate in Omaha Gives!, a one-day online fundraising event organized by the Omaha Community Foundation. The funds we raise will directly benefit our patients, so any contributions made to OneWorld’s campaign will have an impact on an underserved member of our community.
Donations of all amounts help our patients: Just $10 buys a pack of diapers for our Baby Boutique, $15 buys a flu shot, $25 buys a child a visit to a School-Based Health Center, $35 buys an office visit with a physician, $50 buys a child a comprehensive dental visit and the list goes on. No matter what amount you are able to give, your donation will help those who need the health and wellness services we offer.
Donating to OneWorld through Omaha Gives! is easy—just visit www.OmahaGives.org/OneWorld on May 23 and click “donate now.” If you choose to give through our Omaha Gives! page anytime between May 1 and May 23, your donation will count toward our May 23 total. In order to maximize your gift, please consider waiting to give until 8 a.m. on May 23. People who give to OneWorld online between 8 and 9 a.m. will help us increase our chances of being an hourly winner.
Please also consider sharing our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn posts about Omaha Gives! on your own pages in order to help us spread the word about our campaign.
Thank you in advance for your support; we are grateful for your generosity and your willingness to help us reach our goal!
