Did you know that everyone aged 13 to 64 should be tested for HIV at least once? Getting tested is the only way to know if you have an infection. In observance of National HIV Testing Day on June 27th, we invite you to learn more about the testing process today.

At OneWorld, we provide compassionate care and confidential testing. We are equipped to help you through the process of HIV testing and, if needed, referral for treatment. Our staff is dedicated to providing you with affordable, high-quality health care.

When should you get an HIV test?
You can test for HIV at any time. We advise taking a test if you are not always using condoms, sharing needles and syringes, pregnant or breastfeeding, but everyone aged 13 to 64 should be tested at least once.

How we test for HIV
We will take a blood sample by a finger poke. The time between testing and getting results depends on the type of test. The HIV rapid test results are ready in 30 minutes or less. Other blood test results take about one week.

HIV treatment at OneWorld
If your test result is positive, you will receive counseling about what to do next. Your doctor will work with you to make sure you receive the best possible care.

HIV prevention at OneWorld
If you think you are at risk of contracting HIV, talk to your doctor about pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP. PrEP is a pill that, when taken every day, helps people prevent HIV infections by working to keep the virus from establishing a permanent infection after exposure.

Set up an appointment at OneWorld today to receive more information about HIV testing, prevention and treatment. Call us at (402) 734-4110.
