OneWorld’s Board of Directors recently adopted an immigration reform policy position. The board approved the following statement regarding caring for our patients and community as it relates to our mission:
“OneWorld will educate opinion leaders and the community about key issues facing our patients and employees to improve public understanding as the nation debates immigration policy changes and advocate for reforms in furtherance of our mission.”
This spring, in accordance with our position on immigration reform, we joined advocates from education, business and nonprofits in supporting the following Legislative Resolutions passed by the Nebraska Legislature this year:
- LR 26, introduced by Senator Tony Vargas of Omaha. LR 26 supported Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) until a more permanent solution is enacted.
- LR 27, introduced by Senator Kate Bolz of Lincoln. LR 27 declared belief in the protection of refugees regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age or sex and appreciates their contributions to our state.
