PFLAG Omaha is a support group for people within the LGBTQIA+ community, families, friends and allies. In partnership with OneWorld, PFLAG offers bilingual support meetings conducted in Spanish and English. All meetings are free, and anyone is welcome to attend.
In 2019, meetings will take place in the north tower at OneWorld’s Livestock Exchange Building campus (4910 S. 30th St.) on the fourth Thursday of every month. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. PFLAG Omaha also hosts all-English meetings on the second Thursday of every month at Countryside Community Church.
PFLAG, a national organization with local chapters, provides support for families, allies and LGBTQ+ people, and it offers education opportunities about the unique issues and challenges facing the LGBTQ+ population. The organization also advocates for policies and laws that achieve full equality for people who are LGBTQ+.
The group that meets at OneWorld hopes to create a safe space where Latinx people can freely speak Spanish and share experiences with people from similar cultures. English- and Spanish-speaking LGBTQ+ people, parents, relatives, friends and allies are welcome to attend. A PFLAG Omaha representative and a representative from OneWorld’s Rainbow Connection (an employee group working to establish OneWorld as a welcoming place for LGBTQIA+ patients, families and employees) will always be in attendance.
