Young people can now text our staff to make an appointment at our Teen and Young Adult Health Center. Our private texting line is (402) 913-8630, and staff will respond during the clinic’s business hours, which are as follows:

Monday:
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Tuesday – Thursday:
10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday:
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturdays (schedule varies):
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Patients’ personal information is kept private, since the device used to receive and respond to text messages from patients is password-protected and kept in a secure area. Teen and Young Adult Health Center staff members are the only people who have access to the mobile phone and its password. Teens and young adults ages 12-24 can text the number to schedule an appointment at the clinic. If they are more comfortable calling, they can also call the clinic’s phone number: (402) 502-8880.

“Adding a texting line at the Teen and Young Adult Health Center was done with our patient population in mind,” Carlie Lesley, the Teen and Young Adult Health Center’s clinic nurse manager, said. “We want to be as available to our patients as possible, and we recognize that making a phone call can be more challenging than sending a text message at times.”

Currently, the texting line allows patients to schedule appointments only at our South Omaha Teen and Young Adult Health Center location (4310 S. 24th St.). When our West Omaha Teen and Young Adult Health Center opens in July, patients will also be able to text the number to schedule appointments at the new clinic.

Young people who have general questions about sexual health or about the Teen and Young Adult Health Center are encouraged to text “OneWorld” to 332-22 to contact our sexual health outreach team. This number is monitored 24/7, and the team can answer sexual health questions (conversations are kept confidential), help people sign up for sexual health classes, assist people with making appointments and provide more information about upcoming Omaha Teen Generation events. Omaha Teen Generation is a group of adolescent peer educators who are affiliated with OneWorld Community Health Centers and the Adolescent Health Project. They are committed to helping other teens and young adults learn about sexual health and to making a difference in the Omaha community.

Young people can also call, text or FaceTime OneWorld’s sexual health education team at (531) 772-6018 anytime to learn more about classes or to sign up for the next class.
