The Learning Community Center is special for me because it’s a big opportunity for me and my children’s future.Conchis Garcia, family learning class participant
At OneWorld, we believe that health and a sense of belonging within a community go hand-in-hand. Our Learning Community Center of South Omaha, a partnership between OneWorld and the Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties, provides education opportunities for immigrant families, including English and computer classes and parenting skills workshops. We empower parents to engage with their children to achieve better academic outcomes.
“The Center is amazing, and it’s a dream come true. I’m learning, and every class that I come to is different, it’s wonderful, it’s unique! … It’s advice for our lives, for our kids … I love it.
I just love it!” Patricia Paniagua, a South Omaha Learning Community Center participant and mother of three

Both in the classroom and at home, teachers and educational navigators help parents practice new skills, and our enrichment activities for children foster creativity and intellect. The children of parents enrolled in our program have demonstrated significant academic improvement and achievement in evaluation studies.
