Shahnaz and her significant other have three kids – one boy and two girls. She enjoys watching the kids play sports and going to the gym. A former member of the first-line Covid-19 response team at University of Nebraska Medical Center, she treated the Diamond Princess cruise patients who were in quarantine there in February 2020. Shahnaz is a member of the National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center (NETEC). Additionally, she has submitted New Invention Notifications for several innovations, including for a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) gown. Most of her training has been in trauma care.
