Patient Services

Spencer can provide:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy: This evidence-based approach emphasizes the role of attachment relationships in shaping individuals’ sense of self and ability to relate to others. Treatment involves helping individuals identify and process emotions and heal past attachment wounds.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Another evidence-based approach, ACT emphasizes the role of mindfulness in helping individuals enhance cognitive flexibility. Treatment involves helping patients identify and explore their values, increase acceptance of distressing inner experiences and encourage committed values-based action.
  • Somatic Experiencing (SE) Techniques: SE emphasizes the role of the body in storing and healing trauma. Treatment involves increasing awareness of bodily sensations, identifying resources to help regulate the body and processing/releasing inhibited energy associated with past trauma.
