OneWorld Spotlight: Laura Fischer

Having spent much of her career treating patients who have been exposed to trauma, Laura Fischer, LIMHP, brought expertise to OneWorld in 2024 to serve as Associate Director of Behavioral Health.

Her past experiences have allowed her to practice as a therapist and manage teams of behavioral health professionals – while allowing her to delve into interests like program development, quality improvement and mentorship.

“I like the [Federally Qualified Health Center] model because the priority to serve others is ingrained in the organizational culture and driven by regulation,” Fischer said. “Our purpose to heal and help remains foremost.”

For over 20 years, Fischer has helped patients experiencing anxiety, depression and trauma. Her patients have ranged from children experiencing abuse and neglect to service members and veterans.

Fischer earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has also pursued advanced training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention, and Brainspotting.

Outside of work, Fischer loves spending time with her daughter – which is often while driving to various activities. She also soaks up opportunities to relax, like reading, lounging by the pool, tasting wine and hanging out with her border collie. She’d like to further explore herbology.

A fun fact about Fischer? She and her twin were born on their mother’s birthday.
