OneWorld Spotlight: Jiosajandy Garcia-Reyna

OneWorld Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Jiosajandy Garcia-Reyna, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC
From childhood to present day, Jiosajandy Garcia-Reyna, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC, has kept coming back to OneWorld – first as a young patient herself and now as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
“When I started my career, I knew I wanted to be part of the solution, by working to break down barriers to health care and give back to the community that once cared for me,” Garcia-Reyna said.
In 2014, Garcia-Reyna joined OneWorld as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Five years later, she became a Registered Nurse and began working at Children’s Hospital. Her time away was short-lived, however; after a year and a half away, she returned to OneWorld in 2020 as a Registered Nurse. This year, she passed her boards to become a Nurse Practitioner.
“OneWorld has helped train me throughout all stages of my career,” she said.
Garcia-Reyna earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her training and lived experience have helped motivate and inform her path.
“Like many of our patients, I didn’t have health insurance as a child, so doctor visits only happened when they were absolutely necessary,” she said. “That experience stayed with me. I’ve always believed that no one should have to delay or go without care because they can’t afford it.”
Outside of OneWorld, Garcia-Reyna enjoys reading and collecting plants. She also enjoys traveling, which led her to study abroad in New Zealand.
No matter where she is in the world, though, all roads lead to OneWorld – a place that has shaped Garcia-Reyna’s professional experience from the beginning.
