Tips for New Parents:

  • Breastfeeding is best. Try to breast-feed your baby until he/she is at least 6 months old. Call us if you need help.
  • Always place your baby on his/her back to sleep.
  • If you think your baby is sick, check his/her rectal temperature and call OneWorld if he/she has a fever of 100.4˚ or greater.
  • NEVER SHAKE YOUR BABY – Rocking, feeding, singing, swaddling, or a diaper change may help calm an upset baby.
  • Keep your baby’s umbilical cord clean and dry. Call OneWorld if the skin becomes red or drains pus.
  • Expect six to eight wet diapers per day and at least two or three stools per day for the first few weeks.
  • For the first year, use a rear-facing car seat every time your baby travels in the car. It’s the law! Fasten and tighten chest straps. Call OneWorld if you need help.
  • Let others help you.
  • Sleep when your baby sleeps.
  • Feeling blue or depressed is common after the birth of a baby. If you are having trouble, call OneWorld. We can help.
