In 2014, Shannon Kinnan, MD, began working at OneWorld for eight hours a week. Fast forward to 2019, when Shannon joined OneWorld full-time as a Psychiatrist in primary care, and became a member of the OneWorld softball team.

“I got to know the organization through my contract work, and I enjoyed the vision of OneWorld,” said Shannon. “I found a lot of like-minded people with a heart for mission and there were some good opportunities for growth.”

She and her spouse own two dogs, a one-year-old golden retriever and a 12-year old lab, and 11 chickens for eggs. Shannon enjoys a variety of sports and is currently learning to play tennis as one of her three daughters is currently playing.

In addition to working at OneWorld, Shannon provides services to Midtown Health Center patients in Norfolk, Nebraska, and teaches in the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the Creighton School of Medicine where she herself completed her residency in 2010. Shannon is also Board Certified in Addiction Medicine and she is fluent in Spanish.

Shannon is involved in research to improve mental health services in primary care through the Collaborative Care Model in addition to other topics. She has presented her findings at the local and national level, and serves as an active member of the American Psychiatric Association.

OneWorld’s Behavioral Health services are available to every OneWorld patient. With the Collaborative Care Model, Shannon is able to consult with medical and behavioral health clinicians to ensure patients receive the care they need.
