Growing up, Mindee Swanson, DNP, FNP-BC, APRN-NP, received her health care from a Federally Qualified Health Center. Inspired by her experiences and Ayesha Siddiqi’s quote, “Be who you needed when you were younger,” Mindee knew she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field.

“I have always been drawn to working somewhere that increases access for all,” Mindee said. “I love working with adolescents, and was so excited to be invited to be a part of the School-Based Health Centers team at OneWorld.”

Outside of work, Mindee spends her time listening to music and practices needlepoint, embroidery, crochet and knitting. Board games and exploring outside with their puppy, Rooney, are activities Mindee, her husband and two young children enjoy together often.

Mindee earned her bachelors of science in nursing in 2009 from Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa. While pursuing her nurse practitioner degree, Mindee worked in pediatrics at the Nebraska Medical Center, and spent time as an Occupational Health Nurse at Conagra Foods.

In 2014, Mindee received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner from Creighton University. Mindee joined the School-Based Health Centers’ team at OneWorld after completing her degree.

The School-Based Health Centers team offers supplemental care inside four Omaha Public Schools. OneWorld also offers a Medical Mobile for students enrolled in Bellevue and Ralston Public Schools.

Well child checks, sports physicals, immunizations and behavioral and emotional health services are available for students, their siblings and school faculty on-site, allowing students to stay at school to learn while getting the care they need.
