Celebrating 100 years of South Omaha’s LSX

The public is invited to “Look Back, Give Back” to mark the occasion, while supporting new families with essential baby supplies.

Omaha, Neb. – A South Omaha landmark and home to the OneWorld Community Health Centers headquarters turns 100 years old this year – and OneWorld is marking the occasion May 28.

“Look Back, Give Back” will give community members an opportunity to tour and celebrate the Livestock Exchange Building, 4920 S. 30th Street, Omaha, NE 68107. The event will also mark the culmination of the Onesies for OneWorld drive, which supports the OneWorld Baby Boutique.

“The Livestock Exchange Building has been our organizational home since 2005, and we are proud to be stewards of this historic building in its centennial year,” said OneWorld CEO Andrea Skolkin. “As we celebrate the occasion, we also look to the future – not just for our building but for our newest patients as our community welcomes them as part of Onesies for OneWorld.”

The anniversary event, slated for 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 28, is open to the public, but RSVPs are requested by emailing development@oneworldomaha.org. It will feature an open house in the Livestock Exchange Building’s 10th floor ballrooms, with a program at 5:30 p.m. Tours will be available, and historical materials will be on view.

Attendees are invited to bring newborn essentials such as new onesies and other clothing, diapers, blankets and wipes to help stock the OneWorld Baby Boutique. The boutique serves new and expectant parents after attending prenatal, newborn and postpartum appointments.

The Livestock Exchange Building was completed in 1926 and for decades served as a center of commerce during the heyday of South Omaha’s livestock industry. Inspired by Romanesque Revival and Northern Italian Renaissance Revival styles, the building was designed by architect George Prinz and built by Peter Kiewit and Sons.
