OneWorld Hosts Health Fair for Indigenous People

On February 22, 2020 – OneWorld along with Creighton University and Pixan Ixim Maya Community Center hosted the Health Fair for Indigenous People and we are happy to announce it was another successful year!

There were 117 patients served by over 60 health professionals and volunteers. Patients received comprehensive health screenings and had the opportunity to speak with professionals of various medical specialties.

Free Services Provided Included:

  • Blood Pressure Screening
  • Vision and Hearing Exams
  • Dental and Oral Health Screenings
  • Massage Therapy
  • Cholesterol and Glucose Screenings
  • Vaccinations
  • Mayan Medicine

In addition to the medical services provided there were Learning and Information Stations and Health Education opportunities from the Alzheimer’s Association and the Heart Ministry Center. The fair also featured Maya calendar reading from Luis Marcos of Pixan Ixim Maya Community Center.
