OneWorld Spotlight: Amber Lorthridge
Amber Lorthridge, RD, CLC, is a familiar face and welcoming at the OneWorld WIC Clinic, where for the past two decades she has helped women, infants and children improve their health through nutrition support.
Lorthridge’s experience and expertise led to her recent promotion to WIC Program Manager – a role where she will lead her team in providing nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support and healthy foods.
“OneWorld gives me a feeling of being part of a family, not just a health organization,” Lorthridge said. “The warm smiles, happy greetings and even hugs in passing make coming to work every day a breeze.”
Lorthridge earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition science with a minor in family science from the University of Nebraska. After graduating, she completed her dietetic internship in Columbia, S.C., where she received experience with Veterans Affairs, Health South, the Department of Mental Health and WIC.
Outside of work, Lothridge enjoys bringing beauty to her spaces, whether through painting and crafts, decorating events or creating balloon installations. She also has fraternal twins, so she spends time at drill team competitions and basketball and football games. She was born in Lakenheath, England.
Even as she dedicates so much of herself to caring for others, she notes that the best advice she has received is to make time for herself.
“Self-care is very important,” Lorthridge said. “Make time to enjoy the little things.”
