South Omaha Hit Hard: OneWorld’s Response
The South Omaha community has been hit hard by the Coronavirus and OneWorld has seen a surge of positive cases. Our clinicians have been working long hours, dressed head to toe in layers of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) somedays it was in the snow and most recently in 90-degree temperatures.
Our mission at OneWorld has always been to provide culturally respectful, quality healthcare with special attention to the underserved – this has become more important now than ever.
Local minority populations have been disproportionately impacted in our community. This can be attributed to jobs that require close proximity and often face-to face contact with coworkers and the public, housing density and inability to isolate. Through speaking with patients, OneWorld has seen the need for one to one communication, especially when English is not their native language.

Thanks to the support, OneWorld has received from our local media and government officials, the National Guard, and most importantly, the support of the greater Omaha community – we have been able to continue to provide Covid relief and work toward shrinking the gap in culturally relevant education and access to resources during this health crisis.
