This holiday season, OneWorld Community Health Centers is sharing joy and hope with our patient community through a variety of programs in partnership with community organizations.

The OneWorld social work team adopted four OneWorld families through Adopt-A-Family who endured significant struggles this year. These families each have their own hardships, and face many barriers including food insecurities, financial insecurities, access to transportation, legal status and high medical needs.

To make the holiday season brighter, the adopted families will receive gifts from the OneWorld staff in December. Each family submitted a gift wish list including necessities such as winter coats, kitchen tools, school supplies and toys for their children.

“This year our families are asking for assistance with basic items so many of us take for granted such as a vacuum cleaner to help clean their home or a table to sit at and eat a meal as a family,” said Wesley Milligan, Social Worker. “Our families work so hard, but come up against some astonishing barriers at times. It is an absolute joy to step in and partner with them.”

The social work team will deliver the gifts to each family’s house in late December.

Several community organizations adopted other OneWorld families in need of extra holiday assistance. Mary of Our Queens church adopted 25 OneWorld families, the Nebraska Cancer Center adopted four families and a group of nurses at CHI Bergan Mercy adopted one OneWorld family.

OneWorld is also giving away 700 toys for children at the Livestock Exchange Health campus in partnership with the Omaha Marines Toys for Tots in December.

With the help of our community partners, OneWorld staff and the gift of giving, joy and hope will fill the air for all.

At OneWorld, All Are Welcome.
