Beam signing marks milestone for new OneWorld building

Construction expected to continue through 2026 with services beginning in early 2027

Omaha, Nebraska, October 9, 2025 — OneWorld Community Health Centers hosted a beam signing event today, to commemorate a major construction milestone of its new $17.5 million OneWorld Health Care Workforce Development Center.

OneWorld CEO Andrea Skolkin signs the final beam before it is placed.

“As we place the final beam on our fourth building at the historic Livestock Exchange Campus, we’re celebrating a milestone for OneWorld and for South Omaha,” said Andrea Skolkin, CEO of OneWorld Community Health Centers. “This new space will allow us to expand behavioral health services and invest in workforce development, ensuring that healing and growth are further built into the framework of our community.”

Significant construction has already been completed on the 29,000-square-foot facility, including  site grading, building footings and foundations, site utilities and precast stair towers. Work on the facility is expected to continue through 2026 with services beginning in early 2027.

When completed, the building will house a healthcare workforce training center, expanded behavioral health services, a child development center and a micro-unit for epidemic or pandemic responses.

Development is funded in part by the North and South Omaha Recovery Grant Program (NSORG), administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. Canopy South, a community quarterback organization driving neighborhood revitalization in South Omaha, played a critical role in securing and managing this public private partnership.

“This project reflects what’s possible when we invest in people and place at the same time,” said César García, Executive Director of Canopy South. “By bringing critical health services and workforce opportunities into the heart of South Omaha, we’re not only honoring the history of this campus, we’re shaping a future where every resident has a chance to thrive.”

Two construction workers stand high along the top of a beam, which is the final beam of a future OneWorld building. OneWorld and Ronco Construction flags fly alongside the American flag.
