OneWorld is proud to provide quality, affordable health care specially designed to fit the needs of our LGBTQIA+ patients. No matter what your sexual orientation or gender identity may be, you will be welcomed and treated with respect at all of our clinics.
All OneWorld clinics are able to address the physical and mental health needs of LGBTQIA+ people of all ages, and all patients will be treated with compassion and dignity. Any person 12-24 years old can also visit our Teen and Young Adult Health Centers, where our clinicians and behavioral health specialists specialize in understanding the needs of young people.
Behavioral health services
If needed, providers can help you access behavioral health services and other resources and services outside of OneWorld. OneWorld offers counseling in English and Spanish, and counseling in other languages is available using interpreter services.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
If you think you might be at risk of contracting HIV, talk to us about pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP. PrEP is a pill that, when taken every day, helps people prevent HIV infections by working to keep the virus from establishing a permanent infection after exposure. OneWorld is committed to making PrEP affordable and easy to access. As a community health center, we can offer discounted lab testing and appointments. Our pharmacy, located at our Livestock Exchange Building campus (4920 S. 30th St.), can help with medication assistance programs.
If you have any questions about starting to take PrEP, you can call our clinical pharmacists during business hours:
Jessica Downes, PharmD: (402) 504-6368
Jennifer Foster, PharmD: (402) 306-6541
Even if your provider cannot currently prescribe PrEP, they will be able to refer you to someone who can.
HIV/STD testing
We are able to provide confidential STD testing and treatment at most clinics, and clinicians are able to counsel you about STD prevention. We are also equipped to help you through the process of HIV testing and, if needed, referral for treatment. Everyone aged 13 to 64 should be tested for HIV at least once, since getting tested is the only way to know if you have an infection. To test for HIV, we take blood samples by a finger poke or by a blood sample from your arm. If your test results are positive, you will receive counseling about what to do next. Your doctor will work with you to make sure you receive the best possible care.

Transgender hormone therapy
If you are a transgender individual, we can help you begin an inexpensive medical transition process with hormones, and our doctors will treat you before, during and after the transition process. If you are an adult age 19 or older who wishes to begin a medical transition process with hormones, you can inform your primary care provider at OneWorld. You will then be referred to Alex Dworak, MD, who is trained in hormone therapy. Dr. Dworak will meet with you to discuss risks and benefits and gather baseline labwork. Behavioral Health staff members will complete a diagnostic interview to determine your ability to give informed consent, and you will sign a consent form. After the initial processes are completed, hormones can be prescribed, and you will continue to visit your primary care providers. If you wish to discuss options for surgery, our medical team is able to assist with those conversations and referrals.
OneWorld is also able to help new patients who are already taking hormone therapy medication. Dr. Dworak will review your doses and establish a plan for monitoring. We can also assist patients whose prescriptions have lapsed if they wish to re-start the medication.
